Building with Sustainable Materials 🌍
2021 was the year that governments around the world got serious about the climate. Following COP26 in Glasgow at the end of the year, the pressure was on for them to do something and to do it quickly. The emergence of individuals such as Greta Thunberg and Sir David Attenborough has elevated the profile of how important minimising our carbon footprint is. Whilst there are multiple websites, books and blogs dedicated to how was can make small changes at home to make a difference, there is little in the way of making changes to our building materials and interiors. That’s where Cartesian Lime comes in!
Based in Edinburgh, we are distributors of natural building materials which are eco-friendly and will benefit your home and the planet. We have three main products, wood wool board, hydraulic lime plaster and carbon-absorbing paint - perfect if you’re building your house or looking to renovate! There are so many benefits to using Cartesian Lime products in your next project - we’ve popped our favourites below!
Using our wood wool board as part of your build will provide you with incredible thermal insulation that is durable and eco-friendly. Say goodbye to draughty interiors and repairs! Our wood wool board originates from sustainably managed forests and is PEFC labelled. This means that the board is made without any risk to the environment and is also 100% recyclable!
Hydraulic lime plaster has been used in construction for centuries. Prior to more synthetic building materials being invented, lime was in nearly every building. Lime plaster holds a unique quality which separates it from almost every other material - it can re-absorb CO2 from the atmosphere! Using lime on your both interior and exterior walls will allow them to breathe and encourage the absorption of any moisture.
Cartesian Lime is a distributor of Graphenstone Paints. This paint is made using natural ingredients and graphene technology. This combination allows the paint to absorb the same amount of carbon as a tree would over the course of a year. We think that’s pretty special! Using this paint on your walls will promote a healthy living environment for you as well as the planet! Additionally, it’s long lasting, safe for children or those with allergies and resists cleaning should there be any spills!
Using sustainable building materials in your next build or project can only benefit you, your home and the planet. Our products are durable, natural and will help you to make your home more sustainable.
